avast! Virus Cleaner - avast! Virus Cleaner is a free tool that will help you remove selected virus & worm infections from your computer - it doesn't replace antivirus program!

When your computer gets infected by a virus or worm, the virus often schedule itself to be run automatically when you start your operating system; some of them even register themselves to be run when any other application is started.

Removing of it is not as simple as deleting it - after deleting the worm file, your operating system might not be able to start your applications (such as Explorer) any more. In order to properly remove the worm from your computer, it is often necessary to make additional fixes in your system registry, delete the links from your Startup Folder etc.

Here the avast! Virus Cleaner comes - it will find and remove selected worms from your computer, as well as fix the registry and startup items to make sure your system will work correctly after the disinfection.

Many worms - when activated - create additional working files on your hard disk. Even though these files alone are harmless, they are useless and they should not be there. When avast! Virus Cleaner detects and removes a known worm from your computer, its working/temporary files are removed as well. The same applies for worm-specific registry entries etc. avast! Virus Cleaner can also deactivate the virus present in memory. There is no need to start the tool from a Safe Mode - just start it and it will take care of the rest!

I found the program easy to use and noticed that it was of minimal size. The scan itself took a while but it was very thorough. Luckily, no threats were found but I am relatively confident that avast! Virus Cleaner would have discovered any major threats if they ahd been present.

Hi,

I have been using Avast in my three laptops for the last year or so. I feel that your reputation is a high one and I keep recommending Avast to my friends and family.

However, I must say that in the last two weeks this laptop: "Dell Inspiron 1525" has become slower as ever. Suddenly the Windows Update dissapeared, Windows Life can no longer be opened. The "sound" icon dissapeared, a strange pop up is all the time coming in saying that " a new hardware has been detected" when no other output has been installed. Definitely I got a VIRUS and Avast still saying " your computer is fully protected" .I have ran Avast full scan, and no virus is detected. Therefore, I am starting to wonder about the wonders of Avast! I have download a free "Super Anti Spyware" and it has done a good cleaning to the system leaving my computer much better. I still believe that the problem has not been totally erradicated and have my doubts on keeping this "free" virus cleaner.

there are problem still using the software not to userfriendly , by the way there stil virus not clean the name was serviks,df5srvc,:microsoft office update. virus engine using wscript.exe

Hi, have downloaded yesterday your Av.Vir.Cl.
had no problems with starting and using it.
The scan started prompt,however it lasted over
5 hours and have left me with hundred`s of unchecked files and without any report(???)
On my PC I have ~35GB of installed inf.and progr.
and my processor is an AMD Athlon 1,9GH
Would you commend on my expierience,please do.

I have a Windows 2003 file server with an "Ifrmewrk" virus. I installed Avast to see it would detect & remove the virus but it ran for several hours and seemed to slow down the file server so I cancelled the process.

I don't know if it found & fixed the virus or not.

It would be nice if there was a way to schedule your software to run during the night when my file server is not so busy.

I'm not sure if I will try running Avast again or not. Will it detect & remove the "Ifrmewrk" virus? The virus attaches itself to an .html file with the following words: idex, main. Then it adds an Ifrmewrk statement with the words- http://usm.ru:8080/index.php

My review or comments for avast! Virus Cleane.

A helpful product, it has successfully removed a number of viruses from my system on a number of occasions. I have also received regular updates. Keep up the good work.
